Training the Next Generation
As a teaching hospital, Northwestern Memorial's commitment to education extends beyond the physicians who train here and reaches into the community.
Our youth and education programs introduce career opportunities to future healthcare workers by providing students with a first-hand view of those careers. Along with our community partnerships and allied health schools, these programs help educate and foster tomorrow's healthcare workers.
Launched in 2011, this unique program is one of our newest. A Northwestern Medicine–George Westinghouse College Prep partnership, it is helping to change the face of medicine. Northwestern Medicine Scholars Program cultivates and encourages the high school’s top students to become physicians and biomedical scientists.
INROADS is a national, non-profit organization founded in Chicago in 1970. Their mission is to develop and place talented minority youth in business and industry settings to prepare them for corporate and community leadership. As an INROADS sponsor, Northwestern Memorial provides meaningful experiences through internships, year-round academic instruction, and summer workshops to prepare high school and college students for future careers in healthcare.
